About Our City

Welcome from the Mayor

As Mayor of Alvarado, it is a pleasure to welcome you to an online view of our city.  Many have chosen to live in Alvarado - being motivated by our convenient location, our excellent schools, a business opportunity, the rural atmosphere, or our friendly and helpful citizens. Alvarado also offers many choices of worship. We are a growing community and we continue to strive to make improvements that gives our citizens a better quality of life. Alvarado’s success is achieved through the support and cooperative efforts of businesses, schools, churches, our citizens and our city administration. Part of our vision is to make Alvarado a wonderful place to call home.

Alvarado is a collection of people who demonstrate the spirit of the great State of Texas. This town is one of the friendliest, “happy to see you”, and genuinely caring places around. We like to think of Alvarado as the hub of an old wagon wheel, where you can come experience the spirit of the old west in equestrian events (two major rodeo venues), country music with a dash of R&B and pop (in a place called Turkey Creek); and history that few places can brag about such as the historic wagon barn, Old Settlers Reunion, and rustic down town events. All of this and only a short drive away from several very large sport facilities, entertainment districts, and fine dining. In addition, some of the greatest high school teams in Texas and the USA are here! Come to the hub, take a spin on the wagon wheel, and experience the Great State of Texas, Alvarado style!
