Parks and Recreation

The City of Alvarado is dedicated to providing clean and accessible open spaces for citizens to enjoy. The City is led by the direction of citizens serving on the Parks Board. The Parks Board consists of nine members from all wards of the town.

The Parks Board meets as needed and meetings will be posted to the City calendar 72 hours prior to any meeting.

Currently the City Parks system includes Parkway Park, Moore Park, and Lake Park. Parks slated for development include

Heritage Park, Stonegate Park, and George Washington Carver Park.

Please note- The State of Texas recognizes the Alvarado Lake as a public access lake. While this is true, the majority of property around the lake is privately owned. The city operates a 7 acre park containing a boat ramp and picnic tables. Public fishing on foot is limited to this area without permission from private property owners. Those fishing by boat have aces to any area covered by waters of the lake.
